A special episode of “Signori si parte”
The Foundation provided financial support to the film production company Diramare S.r.l. for a special episode of the programme “Signori si parte”, entitled “Il treno per Lourdes” (The Train to Lourdes).
The episode retraces the journey that, for generations, carried pilgrims, the sick, the devout, volunteers and carers from Rome to the shrine of Lourdes: forty-six hours by train across Italy and France to the foothills of the Pyrenees. It is a story of faces, prayers, hardship and hope, aboard the trains that made the pilgrimage possible even for those who could never have made it alone.
The project brings together three of the Foundation’s purposes: audiovisual production, the enhancement of religious heritage and the story of railway travel.
